━━ BIZ ASSIST · SGS-L-01
The incident is contained by lunchtime. The crisis runs for six months.
Biz Assist is insurance-backed executive crisis response for serious events that create operational, legal, regulatory or reputational pressure.
It gives your executives immediate access to crisis management, continuity and investigative specialists, adding external capacity while your own people keep the business running.
24/7 response centre, coordinating specialist support
Funded Response paid under policy, up to your Schedule limit
External Specialist external capacity supports your team, reducing the load on internal functions.
━━ INDEPENDENT ACTIVATION
Biz Assist has its own triggers.
Biz Assist activates independently when a defined organisational crisis event occurs. A loss of facility, product tampering event or workplace fatality can trigger Biz Assist without any Safety Assist involvement. The two are separate policies with separate activation criteria, and where one incident creates both individual and organisational exposure, they can operate alongside each other.
━━ WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS
The claim can take months to resolve. The response cannot wait.
Traditional insurance is primarily designed around the underlying loss or liability. Biz Assist is designed around the response. It activates specialist crisis capacity from the point a covered event occurs, while liability, regulatory exposure and the broader insurance position are still being worked through.
Here is what that response can look like from the moment the call connects.
━━ AVAILABLE RESPONSE CAPABILITIES
One phone number. Everything behind it.
You are not sourcing specialist suppliers at 6pm while the situation is already moving. The Response Consultant assesses what the situation requires and coordinates the appropriate services under the policy, funded up to the limit in your Schedule.
Coverage is delivered under policy wording SGS-L-01 and is subject to the terms, conditions, limits and exclusions of that policy. Benefits are available up to the limit set in your policy Schedule.
━━ WHAT THE POLICY PAYS FOR
You cannot prevent every incident. You can insure the response.
No policy stops a subcontractor rupturing a pipe. What Biz Assist does is make sure that while the footage is still circulating, specialist crisis, investigative and communications support can already be mobilised.
The Response Consultant determines which services are required for the event. Those services are funded under the policy up to the limit in your Schedule, subject to the policy terms, conditions and exclusions.
What it does not do. Biz Assist does not indemnify you for the underlying loss, the clean-up, the fine or the damages. It funds the specialist response around the event, helping contain escalation, support defensible decision-making and create a documented record of how the organisation responded.
━━ EXAMPLE ACTIVATION TRIGGERS
What a real activation looks like.
Biz Assist covers defined crisis events across People, Assets and Reputation. Here are some examples of what can activate a response.
Core trigger events are defined in policy wording SGS-L-01. Additional cyber Insured Events are defined under the BizAssist Cyber Safeguard extension SBA-CS-L-01. Full definitions are available from your broker or on request.
CYBER SAFEGUARD EXTENSION
Cyber Compromise, Cyber Extortion, Cyber Threat and Social Engineering can also activate the Biz Assist response where the BizAssist Cyber Safeguard extension applies.
Available under extension SBA-CS-L-01 and subject to the applicable policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions.
Contained in hours. Still a crisis three weeks later.
━━ ILLUSTRATIVE ACTIVATION · REGIONAL OPERATIONS SITE
A subcontractor ruptured an underground pipe, causing a large-scale oil spill. The physical spill was contained the same day.
Then the footage went up. Community groups mobilised, ESG watchdogs flagged environmental negligence, and executives were named publicly. While the liability position was still being assessed, the organisation was also facing immediate stakeholder, regulatory and reputational pressure.
Outcome. The early response helped stabilise stakeholder pressure while the liability investigation continued. Internal teams remained focused on remediation and operations, while the organisation had specialist support around communications, regulatory engagement and the documented management of the crisis.
━━ WHY THIS IS A GOVERNANCE ISSUE
The incident creates the exposure. The response creates the record.
When a serious incident occurs, scrutiny quickly turns to what the organisation knew, what it did next, whether the response was proportionate and whether those decisions can be demonstrated.
A crisis plan alone does not create response capacity. The challenge is having experienced people available to interpret the situation, coordinate specialist support and help create a clear record of the response while the event is moving.
Biz Assist provides that additional capacity, backed by a funded response mechanism, at the point leadership teams are under the most pressure.
━━ HOW THE PRODUCTS RELATE
Two policies. Two separate triggers.
They solve different problems. Safety Assist responds to aggressor-based threats affecting an individual. Biz Assist responds to defined organisational crisis events across People, Assets and Reputation. Where one event creates both exposures, the policies can operate alongside each other.
━━ FOR BROKERS
A crisis plan does not give your client funded response capacity.
Biz Assist is an insurance-backed crisis-response product designed to complement your clients' existing liability, property and D&O programmes by funding specialist response capacity when a defined crisis event occurs.
Cyber response capability is also available through the BizAssist Cyber Safeguard extension.
