PEOPLE + CULTURE TOOLKIT

START HERE

Why this toolkit exists

People & Culture teams are increasingly being asked to navigate complex psychosocial risk - often without clear boundaries, specialist support or the time to work it all out in the moment.

VUCA works at the intersection of people risk, crisis response and organisational exposure.
We see where psychosocial issues escalate, where internal systems stretch and where People & Culture teams are left carrying risk they were never meant to hold alone.

This toolkit exists to support you in those moments.

It’s not a policy library.
It’s not a crisis manual.
And it’s not about doing more.

It’s a practical, grounding resource designed to help you:

  • understand where psychosocial risk sits

  • orient quickly when something feels unclear or escalating

  • know when and how to involve additional support

  • communicate calmly and confidently with leaders and stakeholders

How to use it

Start with this short guide. It explains how the toolkit is structured, what each section is for, and when to reach for which resource - without needing to read everything at once.

You can return to it whenever clarity, reassurance or structure is needed.

Understanding the landscape

  • What People & Culture Teams Are Carrying

This document reflects the real, day-to-day realities People & Culture teams face when psychosocial issues escalate - including uncertainty, emotional load, and responsibility without clear boundaries.

    It helps explain:

    - why psychosocial risk feels heavier than other WHS risks

    - where expectations have expanded under WHS law

    - why these situations often land with People & Culture

    - where the structural gap sits when issues move beyond standard HR capacity

This is a grounding piece - many teams tell us it puts language to experiences they’ve been holding quietly.

  • About VUCA Risk

This short overview explains who VUCA is, the role we play and how our support fits alongside, not over, existing People & Culture, WHS and organisational frameworks.

    It outlines:

    - where VUCA steps in

    - where we don’t

    - how Safety Assist and Biz Assist work together

    - how this support is designed to relieve pressure on internal teams

This document is useful for internal alignment and for explaining VUCA’s role to leaders or stakeholders.
